This is a violent yet profound scene from Scripture of when David cuts off Goliath’s head. here is a few notes:
1. David is representative of (Gen 3:15) Jesus crushing the head of the snake.
2. David’s heels are red because they are bruised.
3. There is an ominous sky representing the trials David will face as he slowly takes the mantle of King.
4. Saul is in the background with his arms crossed in disapproval.
5. Israel is hiding. Even their tents are ducking behind the hill.
6. The light comes from directly behind David and in some places from David himself.
7 the sword glows with the power of David’s slice.
8. David’s posture is intentionally awkward as he bears the weight of killing Goliath.
9. David is pushing the sword through while he seems to be walking to the right which leads to an arduous uphill climb in the dark. This is intended to represent the March of Jesus to Calvary.
10. Goliath is unnatural in his proportions. This is the nature of sin, it exaggerates our form and makes us deformed.
11. Goliath’s armor has a slight green tent to symbolize the snake of Genesis 3.
12. David’s face is obscured by his hair and the distress  of the battle, but his face glows behind the hair with the divine power of The LORD
